Most likely, because the Prison Break writers do not have a good history with dealing with female characters. Usually the characters are killed off (e.g. Veronica and Sara), or they are made completely irredeemable (e.g. the vice-president). I do not have much faith in TPTB (the powers that be) and women.

i dont think that Gretchen is going to die soon….but maybe later by that other old guy that is her boss- after Whistler escapes- but she definitely made a big impression on the show – especially after sarah died
