In my country, every businesses and entrepreneurs are laying off massive amount of workers, blaming it on USA recession. Even non-tangible product business like insurance companies. Do you all believe workers around the world including my country are easily sent home at this time, blaming US recession? Ordinarily years back there were protests but now there is none as managers find it fit at this time to get rid of employees. What do you all think?

A company must have the right amount of employees for the work they have. They can keep people busy for a few extra days if they have everyone use accrued vacations but then time to lay off.
It is also a great excuse to get rid of the dead weight, people who should have been fired but didn’t quite do enough to get fired. You end up with a better workforce.
