It is helping them but not any more than it’s helping counselors who help people through these hard times, cardiologists who are dealing with the people with high blood pressure and heart attacks caused by people struggling to pay their bills or suddenly losing their jobs. Cardiologists make much more money than psychiatrists. There’s actually a shortage of them. Much of the medical community are benefiting (unfortunately) by the recession. I’m sure they’d change that if they could.
They don’t get more patients if depressed people don’t have the money or insurance to pay for therapy. Most people just live with depression without treatment because they can’t afford it.
