It seems like these three companies are driving the recession deeper and deeper. I don’t know how many more billions will be needed for Citi (should be nationalized) or AIG — people are saying that what the government’s money for there institutions were just a drop in a bucket…
What is your opinion??

they can’t be fixed. that was evident when they partied at the expense of the taxpayers after the first bail-out. unless their board dumps the CEO, the company will continue to go belly up. FACT

It is all hinging on the availability of credit and people’s willingness to spend money again. I can only speak for myself but we have lost 30% in our mutual funds and I will not likely see that again. So my mood for spending needs much improvement. We have some money in AIG which we may or may not see. Ten percent of my community is up for sale and another ten would be if anything was selling. Businesses are down probably 20-30 percent and that is their profit margin. I know people working on commission that have no take home pay. No one wants a car payment can’t trade their current car for what they owe, and their house is now worth half what they owe on it–if they can keep it.
So these big bank/investment/loan companies are part of it, but Madoff and Countrywide Lending and all the other frauds and cheats who encouraged credit and overbuying are in this too.
I don’t see anyone buying cars even if the car companies become solid because who wants to take the chance at this point? I own 2 Chryslers and I know I’ll have to keep them–especially if Chrysler folds, which it probably should. Our greed has finally done us in.

Recession?
It’s all about control of the banks.
Liberals are the ultimate control freaks.

No. We can’t fix them just by throwing money at them. They need new blood and a new philosophy.

No. But, it will prevent us from further economic disaster.
