Are the media losing jobs or gaining jobs by reporting all the bad news to us? To me it seems like the place to be is the media because they living high on the hog by constantly scaring the public into a fear gripping ression. Here in NC, they are laying off 10’s of thousands of state employees (many teachers), cutting individual school budgets by 10’s of millions, raising taxes on everything to the tune of $1 billion MORE for the next year (a 1 cent sales tax increase, fuel tax increase, cigarettes and alcohol, and income tax increases). I have been reading that America will go into an economic depression or recession sometime next year. I expect to lose my job as the economy gets weak. I wonder if I will ever live as well as I did before. As a result I have redoubled my efforts to get a second job and save money. So far we have stopped going out to eat, which we used to do often. My husband rides his bike to work, we now shop at garage sales for clothes for the kids, we started planting a vegetable garden in our backyard, and I am now going to start making my own baby food instead of buying it…..those are just some of the ways the recession has affected my family.  Read More →
