I’ve had the same problem…I’ve been playing World of Warcraft for a year now, and I spent probably 40+ hours a week playing that game. It’s extremely hard to study because even if I’m not doing anything in the game, I want to be on to chat with people. One thing that helps is to work with others. When I’m working on a programming project with my group, even when I have my laptop with me, I don’t play because I feel guilty and that makes me actually do work. However, even that is merely a temporary solution.
I am currently going cold turkey. My boyfriend likes to play WoW with me, but he realized that I needed help. At the rate things were going I might get kicked out of college. He had my account information, so he changed my password and gave me a lecture on how he was stressing out over my situation when I didn’t seem to care. That pretty much woke me up, and now I’m waiting for my projects to be over with before I play again.
I’m not familiar with the games you listed, but I’d suggest that you uninstall them from your computer. Hopefully you can salvage your academic career before it’s too late.
I assume those are all the names of video games.
You need to set yourself a limit on gaming time. Can you afford one hour a day, if you don’t watch TV? Maybe even two. The rest of the time needs to be focused on going to classes and studying, or you will regret it later, when your mediocre grades hinder your job search.
Take a break when you need it but recognize that you’re neglecting your studies.
I wouldn’t stop watching all my favorite shows all together. I would, however, limit myself to maybe 1-3hrs of T.V. a day.
What you have is very common…it’s called procrastination and every student has this. Not to worry, you’ll either become a pro at procrastinating or you’ll just put it off =P

It’s okay to take some time off, but find a way to drag you back by a deadline set by you.

Learn to have self-control and -discipline. Make a daily list of things to do or study and don’t play any games after you do all of it on the list.
