I started a pet portrait business a few months ago and have had a couple of commissions. I draw portraits of pets in black and white pencil. What is a good way to get more business?

I’d put up flyers both near pet & pet supply stores and art stores. Also in dog parks!

Radio is the best way to go if you want to reach thousands of people at once. It is sometimes costly, depending on the station you choose and whether it is AM or FM. But you might also consider sponsoring a program on a local station where they mention your name and business. It is a proven fact that radio reaches more people than any other type of advertising.

I want you to DIVE right in and be ahead of the curve on this website, squidoo.com. One of the most new and watched websites on the internet, started by a business guru Seth Godin.
The concept is taking internet groups to a higher level and more encapsualation of personal content regarding promotions, ventures and interests. Best of all it’s free and once you spend about two hours wrapping your head around the concept of composing a LENS, writing a LENS about your interest, you will want to submit many.
In less than two months, I have 10 lenses promoting my graphics at cafepress.com/bluedecker97. Tshirts already made and hosted and you personalize and add your own graphic, slogan or art.
Squidoo.com interest pages are called LENS and visitors can take polls, see related interests from modules that you choose and program, rate your page and last month squidoo.com celebrated its 50,000th LENS.
An example of promoting your LENS is really good KEYWORDS or TAGS. SO my CHOPPER the CAT page contains a programmed advertising module promoting the Discovery Channels’ AMERICAN CHOPPER, and the guys there just built a motorcylce for CATEPILLAR, called the CHOPPER CAT. My lens went from 50,000 something to 700 something over night.
Regarding art and business, you will have no problem finding your niche and people at squidoo.com. Lots of listings by people waiting to communicate and be interactive.
The two LENS I include below are by one of the sites most prolific writers, KimberlyDawn Wells. Check out all her LENS.
Take a peek at mine:http://www.squidoo.com/penguinmarch
You can also find a link to my 360 page and see how I promote my squidoo LENS in my FEEDs.
I hope you read this and are not overwhelmed. Squidoo did overwhelm me at first but I dove in and now it is so simple.
