I’ve noticed that in poorer countries people are more religious, so do you think as Americans become poorer due to the recession they will turn to Christianity?

They will never admit it but the atheists accept the existence of God without even knowing it so it doesn’t really matter if they say it out loud,
i’d like to see anyone on this earth who hasn’t said “Oh my God” in his/her life

“all the atheists”
so all the atheists only live and reside in america?
i can answer that , no
dont forget the rest of the world, which of course does exist outside of america
and no, we dont beleive in god for many reasons, and it has little to nothing to do with soceity and sociological problems that occur in human civilisation

Of course not. My wife and I are picking ourselves up by our work boots every morning, just as we always have, and we’re making ends meet, with cash left to spare. And, instead of contributing to the paradox of thrift, we’re making purchases to support the businesses in the area.
It helps that, when I saw a crisis looming ahead, I opened a bank account with a bank that had little exposure to the mortgage market. My bank is still reporting profits. We also try to avoid credit cards whenever possible (we keep one to buy gas for the car in a pinch).
Prayer and turning to nonexistent entities? Please. I can use my brain, pbserve how things work, and work hard to take care of myself.

no, if they are firm believers in athieism, they dont believe in god, so why would they change their beliefs to beg for what they need?
it would be hypocritical and turning against what they have believed in just to have hopes to have an answered prayer

I fail to see how that’s going to improve my situation, if things go wrong.
Those poorer countries, also tend to have poorer education systems. Will becoming poor, also remove my education?

according to this paper particularly evangelicals tend to pick up new members during recession. Mainstream protestants less so, they even may profit more from boom times:http://uweb.txstate.edu/~db52/praying_fo…

No dear, they will, as usual, face reality and get to work instead of expecting an invisible daddy in the sky to solve the problems for them as people suffering from schizoid delusional mental disorder might do….

No
The poorer countries also have very low rate of education levels
The level of religiosity is directly linked to under-education and misunderstandings of one´s surroundings and nature

You seem to have a typo. You accidentally capitalized “god”. Be more careful next time.

Only if poverty causes people to lose brain cells.
September 30th, 2009 at 9:23 am
nope
many atheists are stronger then christians who rely on sky-dad for money

Umm, no. What good would believing in a god or praying do?
